I cant find the tread. But somone started a tread on how they were going to fade Argentina through the Group stage because Maradona was a bad coach and Argentina barely qualified. He also had alot of people agreeing with him. I then stated it was a bad idea to do so being that the Group was weak and that Messi could beat these teams by himself.

My only question to you is. How your bankroll doing? :howdy:

i didn't start the thread you speak of...but i totally was one to agree about them not going deep....also thought that england would struggle and bet france and italy would bow out early....so the bankroll is doing just fine....as for los albicelestes...i have bought in...i didn't think the cokehead could get all of them to play together after putting together about 70 different combos of lineups in the qualies...(i still had bet them to win their group)...the game v. germany will tell a lot...i still think they are terribly vulnerable on the back line and in goal...mexico was very unlucky the first 10' yesterday...coulda easily been 2-0 right off the bat...anyways, the game this weekend will definitely be a must see..cheers

Fair enough. I wish I had faded Italy and France more. Basically left those games alone. Those were the overrated teams.

On another forum, someone started a thread telling everyone to bet Greece ML against Argentina for the "value". Now, I'm no expert at soccer, but that was amusing to me. He actually got a couple people to tail him also. :T

I can understand that reasoning, but I honestly believe that Argentina's reserves are still way better than Greece's starters. Greece was in competition with North Korea as worst team in the tournament.

i faded arg due to maradona's proposed formation and paid dearly for it as he, at last moment, came to his senses and had two strikers plus messi on field at all times. obviously wish i waited to place the group bets until June 10 when the info came down that he was tossing his preferred lone striker formation for the more attack-minded formation his players wanted, but I didn't and I lost. i still don't understand how the two Inter MF aren't on the team and still think it will cost them defensively in this tourney but for now the new attacking formation has been awesome

As stated above I cant find the tread. But I warned people that fadeing Arg. was a stupid idea prior to game 1 and people started ripping me. This is payback.

I'm not ready to tout Argentina yet, but they have looked good so far even without Messi scoring

I have Argentina, Spain, and Portugal in my futures to win it all as posted here in May, I honestly believed they would get to the Elite 8 due to weaker competetion, however, that is expected based on their history, they will get their first true test this weekend against Germany (no I don't count Mexico LOL) obviously, my dream sceneario would be for Argentina to meet Spain/Portugal in the Final Four and guarantee me a spot in the title game, but that is still a ways to go

The people that doubted Argentina were basing it off qualifers (which I understand, but they were playing very good up to the World Cup in exhibitions so they showed signs of life and they have piles of talent) However, we will see if they are a serious contender after the Argentina/Germany game, so far so good though...............another note, the way South America has been dominating this World Cup maybe the qualifiers can be more forgiven since South America seems highly competitive, Maradona was using piles of lineups too in the qualifiers and was treating it like Pre-Season NFL Football LOL trying to find the right group I guess, my other futures Spain/Portugal play each other tomorrow, Spain has pure balance (even more than Argentina) so I guess I'll root for them even though I advance with either team Spain/Portugal

What a bunch of morons. Never did I pick Argentina to win against Germany. I was discussing how everyone liked playing Greece, South Korea, Nigeria and Mexico against Arg. Germany is a whole different team. Great bump by the way. Let this tread live!!!! You showed me!!hno:

Spain has been been my pick from the start. Ironic how Spain and Germany matchup is the same as Euro 2008. Spain is going to have their hands full with Torres not being 100%. Edge to Germany?

no biggie for me, Spain pays slightly more for me since I have more money on them at lower odds than Argentina, Brazil out is huge, my only futures left is Spain, I get a chance for revenge against Germany, very simple, I beat Germany with Spain then I cash my futures with still great money, why? there is something called a "hedge"
